I could not have done this reaction paper without the use of my personal computer. Computers are a giant part of our lives especially in my field of specialty that deals greatly with them. Mentioning Microsoft, it is one of the greatest computer companies in the world besides Apple. But, a lot of people don’t know about the rivalry between the two. Steve Jobs became popular for it’s top selling trademark which is the Apple iPod, iPhone, and iPad. Whilst Bill Gates was widely known as a genius who created Microsoft. But I want to share with you my personal opinion about both sides.
Bill Gates started small. His office was like a little townhouse and he entertained his clients even if he had not taken a bath yet. Yet, he still struggled for his life and his passion. He looked for different jobs, applied to different companies, and even bought an operating system from an underground programmer. He tried working for IBM, but then it turned out that that was not destined for him. Then Apple became one of his prospects. He made an agreement with the founder of Apple, Steve Jobs.
Steve Jobs aimed for perfection. At first he was a happy-go-lucky person. But he had deep thoughts that he wouldn’t tell anyone. Deep thoughts that led to deep rivalry. He established Apple Computers, with their main product that time which is Macintosh. He made his employees work for 90 hours a week, and for some reasons, he forgot about life. He had a child named Lisa, and named one computer after her, then dumped it. Steve is a big name for the computer world that time.
When Bill Gates first saw Macintosh, he wanted it. And he did everything to have it. He made an agreement with Steve Jobs. Jobs trusted him about the codes, but then breaking into it, he copied it and named it his own, thus, Microsoft Windows.
Both aimed for perfection. Perfection that no one in the real world have. One thing that is impossible. Steve’s story was focused more maybe because he was the first to produce such inventions. I find Steve a bit boastful and arrogant because of the way he treated his employees. There was this one time in the movie that one of his workers told another worker that “Steve is the man that feeds you.” and that bothered me because he is the programmer, and Steve is just the one carrying the name. Quitting the blabbing, let’s just be thankful for both. For without them, we won’t be enjoying our computers right now. The film succeeded in delivering the real and only the true scores about their theme. No sugarcoating and other nonsense things.
